The CryoJane ® Tape-Transfer System 220 Volt model makes it easy to produce high-quality frozen sections of difficult tissues. The CryoJane uses adhesive coated slides and adhesive tapes to capture sections instead of using an anti-roll plate or brush. The Leica CryoJane is adaptable to virtually all cryostats on the market. The system achieves frozen sections of paraffin-quality as thin as t wo microns. The sections are wrinkle-free, uncompressed, fully intact and bonded to the microscope slide. A strip of tape is affixed to the trimmed tissue block and a section is then cut onto the tape. The tape with the section is placed on a pre-coated adhesive s lide. The tape/slide is flashed with UV light, which polymerizes the adhesive on the slide. The tape is then peeled away to reveal t he unthawed section securely anchored to the slide. The section on the slide is now ready for fixation and/or staining as it would n ormally be done without the tape transfer. It is ideal for fatty tissues such as breast tissue, undecalcified bone and for serial se ctions of brain.Sections can be cut between 2-60 um in thickness and single or multiple sections can be placed on a single slide. Ei ght millisecond, long-wave UV (360 nm) is safe for protocols such as In situ Hybridization. The system features a temperature-contro lled pad for optimal section transfer conditions. A Protective Oil Bath Accessory (optional) prevents freeze drying of specimens dur ing long term freezer storage. Minimal maintenance required. Consistent results help operators maintain productivity and preserve ti ssue samples. The Leica CryoJane Tape-Transfer System includes the control unit, (ECU) with a power cord, UV Flash Unit with Tempera ture Controlled Pad, Hand Roller and Mounting, Bracket, Door Bar, five Cable Clamps, one Slide Storage Shelf, 125 CJ-1X Adhesive Sli des, 10 CJ-½X Adhesive Slides, 10 CJ-4X Adhesive Slides, one roll of Tape Windows (400 tapes per roll), a manual, one set of Replace ment Fuses, Knife Facet Wipers and a one year Parts Warranty from date of install. The additional purchase of a Leica CryoJane Installation Kit is required for the Leica CM1850UV and Leica CM1950 cryostats.
